Clouds

White puffy clouds in front of a bright blue sky

Almost any time you go outside and look up at the sky, you can see clouds.  Clouds are little drops of water or ice hanging in the atmosphere high above the earth.  There are many different types of clouds.  Some are high up, some are in the middle, and some are low down in the sky.  Some are big and puffy, others are thin and wispy.  Clouds drop precipitation on land, which comes in the form of rain when it’s warm or snow when it’s cold.  Scientists study cloud shapes to tell what kind of weather is coming.  Clouds are very helpful in many ways, but one important thing is that when the wind blows clouds around, they bring water to places all over the world.
